Mental Health Accredited Social Worker | Trauma Therapist | B.Soc.Sc, Grad Dip Ed, MSW

I am a Mental Health Accredited Social Worker, with a focus on providing Trauma Therapy with over 26 years of experience across government and non-government services, public and private health, and private practice. I provide in-person, online and telehealth counselling for individuals, famlies and couples. I accept the following referrals: WorkCover QLD, Open Arms, Self Referrer, Priority One, GP MHCP or D904 Referrals, VAQ.

My approach is collaborative and trauma-informed. I recognise that reaching out for support can take courage, particularly when someone has been managing difficult experiences for a long time. I work alongside clients to understand what they have been through, make sense of how these experiences may be affecting them now, and develop strategies that support greater safety, connection and wellbeing.

I have a particular interest in working with veterans and first responders, including QAS, QPS, QFR and health professionals, as well as people experiencing PTSD, anxiety, depression, domestic and family violence, relationship difficulties, and acute, complex or developmental trauma.

I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches, including Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), CBT-E and SSCM for eating disorders, Gottman Method Level 1 for couples, Sandplay and Symbol Work, and trauma and attachment-focused approaches.I also undertake ongoing professional development in somatic trauma release and body-based approaches to support clients to understand and regulate the physical responses associated with trauma and emotional distress. I work collaboratively with clients to ensure they feel sufficiently safe, resourced and ready before moving into trauma reprocessing.

Alongside my counselling practice, I provide clinical supervision to mental health and allied health professionals, supporting practitioners to develop their clinical skills, confidence, reflective practice and capacity to work therapeutically with complex and trauma-related presentations.

I believe therapy is most effective when it is respectful, compassionate and tailored to the individual. My goal is to provide a safe space where clients feel heard and understood, while supporting them to draw on their own strengths, build resilience, strengthen relationships and move towards meaningful change.
